Christmas will come early for Scirocco R fans
Sleek hot hatch will be here by the end of the yearVolkswagen has an early Christmas present for fans of the sleek Scirocco R hatch.
It should be in showrooms by the end of the year – but deliveries won’t begin until early 2012.
“We are going to give our dealers [and customers] the first chance to see the Scirocco R in dealerships before Christmas,” said the managing director of VW Australia, Anke Koeckler.
“It’s a little Christmas gift. But [it won’t be] on sale until next year.”
The other star car of VW’s line-up, the new Beetle, will arrive in the second half of next year. But the new Golf cabriolet will make it here before the end of 2012.
After years of negotiations, Ms Koeckler said the strong Australian dollar made the Scirocco R viable for Australia.
