Citroen C-Design Competition

An international online competition encourages aspiring 3D designers to incorporate elements from Citroen's model range in everyday objects

Citroen's Italian arm has launched a design competition named 'C-Design -- Combine, Connect, Create'. The purpose of the competition, which is held online, is to take styling themes from Citroen's model range and integrate those themes into the designs of common items encountered in the home or workplace.

Citroen is offering a 10,000 Euro first prize to the winning entrant. 3D models have been uploaded as zip files to www.aedo-to.com/citroen. Entrants can register on this site and download the file(s) to commence their projects.

As Citroen sees it, it's an opportunity for up and coming designers to "indulge their fantasies in reinterpreting vehicle elements to create an innovative project."

Entrants are freed from constraints that might be placed upon them in other (paying) jobs.

Competition judges, headed by Citroen's head of styling, Jean Pierre Ploué, have been recruited from several different design areas, including architecture and, of course, automotive design.

Registrations for the competition close January 8, 2008 and entries must be submitted no later than January 15. The second prize winner will receive 6000 Euros and third prize wins 4000 Euros. A selection of the best entries will be displayed at an international design exhibition in Milan later next year.
