Owners of VF Commodore and WN Caprice are being contacted by GM Holden to have their vehicles assessed at an authorised dealer, following the detection of a manufacturing defect affecting front seat mounting.
GM-Holden announced in a statement issued today that 25,055 vehicles are to be recalled. The vehicles concerned were built with "an incomplete weld on the front seat hook bracket assembly," according to the company.
Holden states that there have been no casualties reported as a consequence of the faulty welds, but the potential exists for the front seats to separate from the seat tracks, exacerbating injuries sustained in a crash.
Owners are asked to arrange with their nearest Holden dealer to have the car inspected, and the seat base assembly replaced if necessary.
