As one of the original equipment (OE) tyre suppliers of most German made passenger vehicles, Continental Tyres is pushing ahead with expansion plans in Australia, opening four retail stores around the country.
According to Gareth Taylor, Continental Tyres of Australia's Marketing Manager, the opening of retail stores is the next step in its bold plan to become a household name in tyres in this country.
"Continental is a household name overseas, particularly in Europe, and whilst our products have had a presence in Australia for the last 15 or so years, we hope to build on that success with our growing distribution network and next generation product range to ultimately achieve the same recognition we enjoy globally," said Taylor.
The four retail stores are in Wanneroo (WA), Nailsworth (SA), Murwillumbah (NSW) and Port Macquarie (NSW) and Continental says that more stores will open "by the end of the year".
Continental joins the likes of Goodyear and Bridgestone, which already have retail stores around the country. On a global scale, Continental has more than 1400 retail outlets, and Australia has been identified as a growth market.
"The Australasian market has been identified as a major expansion platform for Continental," added Taylor, "with Australia as a key growth market within those plans and the opening of our retail outlets is an integral part of this strategy."
Celebrating its 140th birthday this month, Continental is also makes several other vehicular components, such as instrumentation, brake systems, powertrains, chassis', and even infotainment solutions - one of its subsidiaries supplies Holden's Commodore with its iQ touch screen system for example.
