It's only new to the market, but the 150 Series Toyota Corolla (more here) looks set to carry on the good work of its 120 Series predecessor. Corolla (pictured) sold 5890 units for the month, ahead of Holden's Commodore on 5588 units. Both month and year-to-date (YTD) market share percentages are slightly down on figures for last year, but the differences are negligible.
According to VFACTS figures released today, Corolla sold 5912 units for June last year. June 2007 was the new 150 Series model's first full month on sale.
In what was a very strong month for the industry as a whole, Corolla did however lose market share to the Mazda3. The top performing Mazda was over 35 per cent up, year on year, posting 3037 for June '07, compared to 2121 in June '06.
Mitsubishi's Lancer and the Volkswagen Golf are also enjoying more market penetration this month. Lancer surged from 1469 units in May to 2143 for June. That's a jump of over 45 per cent in one month.
The Golf reached into its bag of tricks and pulled out a figure of 1619 units for June, a 46 per cent improvement on May's sales.
