Toyota has unveiled the Corolla Cross Adventure in Japan, a limited-edition version of its small SUV that celebrates the Corolla nameplate's 60th anniversary with tougher styling inspired by the larger Toyota RAV4 Edge, but it doesn’t get any mechanical or off-road upgrades.

The Toyota Corolla Cross Adventure is the latest model to join the brand's 60th anniversary celebrations in Japan, following the unveiling of Active Sport versions of the Corolla sedan and wagon.
Unlike those models, which nabbed suspension and steering revisions alongside cosmetic changes, the Corolla Cross Adventure only gets styling enhancements.
Most notably, a new front grille as seen on the US market petrol Corolla Cross, replacing the closed-off 'honeycomb' treatment fitted to the current Japanese and Australian models.
The Adventure also borrows the dark grey six-spoke alloy wheel design from the RAV4 Edge – sold as the Adventure in many overseas markets – although they measure 17 inches rather than the RAV4's 18s.

Other exterior changes include a rear bumper lower garnish, black side window mouldings and unique 60th anniversary decals on the front guards.
Buyers can also specify an array of accessories including a heritage-inspired spelled-out Toyota grille badge, as well as textured lower body cladding.
Inside, the special edition gets smoked silver interior trim finishes to distinguish it from the standard Corolla Cross SUV.
The Adventure will come in Urban Khaki, Mud Bath and Platinum White Pearl paint finishes, each paired with a contrasting black roof.
For now, the Corolla Cross Adventure remains exclusive to Japan with Toyota Australia yet to confirm whether the special edition will be offered locally.
