Covers come off 2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate

Limited-run flagship coupe sells out before it and its significant upgrades are even revealed

The Aston Martin DBS is about to be retired, but not before the British performance car brand’s flagship model gets one last hurrah in the form of the 2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate – the most capable and aggressive production Bond-mobile ever.

Limited to just 499 examples globally, the DBS 770 Ultimate is the absolute pinnacle of Aston Martin’s grand tourer line-up, with its twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 now roaring out 566kW of power at 6500rpm and 900Nm of torque over 1800-5000rpm.

Those outputs mark a 33kW increase over the standard DBS and were achieved through the fitment of modified intake and ignition pathways, as well as a seven per cent increase in boost pressure.

The result is a claimed 3.4-second 0-100km/h acceleration time for the coupe (3.6sec for the Volante) and a top speed of 340km/h.

Drive is still shipped to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, however, the former has been remapped for snappier shifts and greater driver involvement.

More than just a power upgrade and a new badge, the Ultimate lives up to its nameplate in the dynamics department too, thanks to a new solid-mounted steering column, retuned adaptive damping system and additional body and underbody strengthening.

All of this newfound aggression is alluded to by the massive new bonnet vent, front intakes, splitter, carbon-fibre window trim, windscreen surround, mirror caps, fender louvres, sill elements, rear diffuser and bespoke 21-inch alloy wheels.

The enhanced look is continued within the cabin by the ‘Sports Plus Seats’ trimmed in full semi-aniline leather and Alcantara, plus carbon-fibre shift paddles, exclusive contrast stitching, a unique armrest logo and individually numbered scuff plates.

“When an iconic model generation reaches the end of production it is important to mark the

occasion with something special,” said Aston Martin chief technology officer Roberto Fedeli.

“In the case of the DBS 770 Ultimate, we have spared nothing in ensuring the final version of our current series production flagship is the best-ever in every respect.

“Not only is it the fastest and most powerful DBS in our history, thanks to a comprehensive suite of improvements to the transmission, steering, suspension, and underbody structure; it is also the best to drive.”

The 499-unit production run comprises 300 coupes and 199 Volantes, however, the chances of securing one are next to nil because Aston Martin had already sold them all prior to the reveal.

First global deliveries are expected to commence in the third quarter of this year.
