It’s not every day that a flagship variant of a model line is offered with all of the statutory on-road costs waived and then discounted on top of that, but that’s exactly what’s happened with the 2023 Renault Koleos Iconic Edition AWD automatic.
Usually retailing for $49,500 plus ORCs, the top-spec Koleos is currently being advertised on carsales for $49,490 drive-away – an outright saving of more than $5000 in certain states like WA.
The Iconic Edition was introduced here as a limited-run special that goes big on value to keep sales of the aging mid-size French SUV ticking over, but it seems there are still plenty of the 400 units imported kicking around dealerships waiting for a buyer.
Headline kit includes Nappa leather upholstery, metallic paint, unique 19-inch ‘Initiale Paris’ alloy wheels, side steps, floor mats, power-adjustable, heated and cooled front seats with memory and massage functions for the driver, panoramic sunroof and an 8.7-inch portrait-style central touch-screen housing smartphone mirroring and sat-nav.
Meantime, the 2023 Isuzu D-MAX X-TERRAIN 4x4 automatic has long been the value king of the mainstream dual-cab 4x4 ute market, with a promotional drive-away price of $64,990 drive-away in place for the vast majority of last year.
When the promo ends the decked-out pick-up reverts to a list price of $67,500 plus on-road costs, meaning customers are saving the best part of $10,000 – and that’s before you factor in standard accessories like the Mountain Top roller cover and integrated sports bars.
But it’s hard to talk about value without mentioning MG, given as the Chinese brand offers some of the sharpest pricing in the industry across multiple segments and backs them with a leading seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Case in point is the 2023 MG3 Excite automatic – the top-spec variant of the evergreen light hatch – which retails for a crisp $20,900 drive-away and includes goodies like sat-nav, reversing camera, Bluetooth and a six-speaker sound system.
