Normal transmission has resumed. The end of the financial year is over and half the country is in lockdown.
But there are still deals to be had, and retailers will sell you a car online, or in person, if you live in a part of the country that won’t be in lockdown next week.
And while global supply remains a problem, that won’t stop some companies and their dealers negotiating a tempting price or offering some other inducement to buy.
Take, for example, the Kia Sportage, which is now in run-out ahead of the new fifth-generation model arriving late this year.
The manufacturer’s retail list price for the Kia Sportage SX front-wheel drive petrol model with automatic transmission is $34,590. But for a short time dealers will sell you this very car for $34,790 drive-away.
That means you’ll pay just $200 extra for the stamp duty, registration and compulsory third-party insurance, or to put it another way: thousands saved off the on-road costs.
ABN holders get a look in too, with the Mazda BT-50 GT 4x4 dual-cab utility with manual transmission.
Mazda is paying the on-road costs, saving you thousands, for a drive-away price of $56,990 – the same as the manufacturer’s retail list price.
In addition, Mazda has a finance offer on the table: a loan at an interest rate of 4.95 per cent.
Lastly, the BMW 218i Gran Coupe with automatic transmission is also the subject of a finance offer – 4.99 per cent interest on a five-month loan.
Included in that is five years or 80,000km of scheduled servicing.
BMW is also delivering the car for $56,900 on the road, with a $3000 enhancement package fitted. This car normally retails at $52,600 before the on-roads or any options.
