There’s still a market out there for light hatches, as MG is proving with its MG3, which sold 3000 more in 2020 than the year before. The well-equipped MG3 Excite, which is usually priced at $18,490, is currently rolling out showroom doors for $18,690, but with the on-road costs paid by the importer. That’s a lot of car – and seven years of warranty coverage as well – for not much moolah.
The Ford Transit 350L rear-wheel drive van with automatic transmission is being offered to private buyers for just $53,490 drive-away. Fleet buyers with an ABN do even better, paying just $52,490. This Transit variant normally sells for $54,090, so there’s a saving of $600 for private buyers and $1600 for fleets. That’s not counting the registration, stamp duty and compulsory third-party insurance that Ford is absorbing. And lastly, Ford will provide buyers with three years of free scheduled servicing.
Just possibly the best deal around for buyers in the market for a family-friendly, off-road-ready SUV is the Mitsubishi Pajero GLX automatic, which is listed at $54,490, but is currently selling for as little as $51,490, including the costs to put it on the road. There’s a saving of $3000, plus the free stamp duty, registration and compulsory third-party insurance as the icing on the cake.
