Electric vehicles are progressively getting cheaper, with more and more affordable EVs coming to market in recent times.
On paper at least, the 2023 MINI Hatch Cooper SE Resolute, could be a tough sell for a lot of prospective EV shoppers due to its relatively high asking price and short driving range, however, all that changes when more than $5000 is scraped off the asking price and the on-road costs are waived.
Instead of $65,325 plus ORCs, the first electric MINI is currently available from $60,990 drive-away, and that’s before any of the remaining EV incentives are factored into the equation, presenting customers with savings of up to $12,000 depending on their state or territory.
For reference, the Hatch Cooper SE Resolute pairs that funky MINI styling with a 137kW/270Nm electric motor that draws current from a 32.6kWh battery pack, yielding a 233km WLTP driving range.
But what if small electric hatches aren’t your forte? What if you’re more of an off-road dual-cab 4x4 ute fan?
Well Jeep has you covered there because the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Night Eagle 4x4 automatic is now going for $75,950 drive-away instead of the usual $78,250 plus ORCs.
A lot like the MINI, this promo sees more than $10,000 trimmed off the final total by the time the big rig is parked in your driveway, which could be enough to put it back on a lot of people’s shopping list instead of something like the Nissan Navara Warrior.
Obviously the Gladiator is niche offering within the ute segment as it’s more of a lifestyle ute than an all-out workhorse, but it will go a lot further off-road than a standard dual-cab, even in entry-level Night Eagle guise, which goes without the Rubicon’s twin locking differentials, mud-terrain tyres and heavy-duty axles.
And how about a brand-new mid-size European SUV?
Citroen has you covered there with its 2023 Citroen C5 Aircross Sport automatic, which has had all of its on-road costs binned, meaning the new model can now be had from $54,990 drive-away – saving buyers thousands of dollars that could be put towards accessories or something else entirely.
