Deal hunter: More than $9000 off hot 2024 Cupra Ateca
Plus an even bigger discount for RAM 1500 Big Horn and an intriguing promo for GWM Ora GTMid-size SUVs are all the rage at the moment, aided in part by the number of performance versions coming to Australia’s single biggest new-vehicle market segment.
One of the most potent is the 2024 Cupra Ateca VZx, which packs a 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive to hit 100km/h in under five seconds.
The speedy Spanish medium SUV usually is usually priced from $63,490 plus on-road costs, but can currently be had from just $58,888 drive-away, marking a saving of well over $9000 by the time it’s on your driveway.
The discount alone saves you more than $4600, while the waived statutory costs total well over $5000 depending on the state of purchase.
It’s a similar story with the 2023 RAM 1500 Big Horn SWB 4x4 automatic, even though it’s a huge American pick-up truck that usually retails for $119,950 plus ORCs.
But with RAM Trucks Australia trying to offload the current model in preparation for the facelifted version, the Big Horn is currently on special for $114,950 drive-away with three years or 36,000km of scheduled servicing (normally costing more than $1800) included in the price.
Big-rigs like this have never been cheap, but that doesn’t mean full-size pick-up buyers won’t welcome a $12,000-plus saving.
At the opposite end of the market are compact EVs, which are still gaining in popularity but have a long way to go before they’re as common on our roads as equivalent petrol vehicles.
The 2024 GWM Ora GT sits at the top of the dedicated-electric hatchback line-up, featuring some angry exterior design cues and a loaded equipment list.
It usually sells for a not-quite-cheap $46,990 drive-away, but GWM Australia has been batting to boost slow Ora sales pretty much from the outset, so this flagship version is currently on sale for $44,990 drive-away for private buyers and $43,990 drive-away for ABN customers.
A $2000-$3000 discount on a sub-$50K vehicle of any sort is not to be sneezed at and there may be a further EV subsidy in the state you live in.
