Deal hunter: No on-road costs for Peugeot 308 GT

Thankfully, auto brands have been required to list drive-away prices (including all statutory and other on-road costs) for the vehicles they advertise as part of the federal government’s ‘clarity in pricing’ amendment to the Trade Practices Act in 2009.
Just as thankfully, drive-away pricing offers and promotions do come along relatively frequently, which not only adds simplicity to the new-car buying experience but also brings savings for consumers.
Case in point is the current offer on the 2022 Peugeot 308 GT automatic. This French hatchback usually retails from $43,990 plus on-road costs, but Peugeot is keen to offload surplus stock at the moment and has bundled all of the pesky on-road costs into the one drive-away price.
This means you can take delivery of your brand-new Pug hatchback for $43,990 with no more to pay – unless you want accessories like a dash mat or floor mats.
RAM Trucks Australia is similarly trying to offload the last examples of its DS-series RAM 1500 vehicles by waiving all of the full-size pick-up truck’s on-road costs.
That means the base 2022 RAM 1500 Express Crew Cab automatic can now be had for $98,950 drive-away as opposed to $98,950 plus on-road costs, which usually bump the total price up to around the $110,000 mark by the time the vehicle’s on your driveway.
Volkswagen is another brand fond of a good drive-away deal and has once again bundled the thousands of dollars’ worth of on-road costs associated with the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan 132TSI Life Allspace 4MOTION automatic into one easy-to-swallow $1100 premium.
This means that instead of paying $48,890 plus ORCs, you’ll fork out $49,990 and be done with the transaction/purchase process.
