Deal hunter: Up to $6800 off base Volkswagen Amarok

Plus a drive-away deal for the Kia Picanto GT-Line and a $2000 saving off the Hyundai Santa Fe

The new-generation Volkswagen Amarok has already proven a huge hit Down Under and now the four-cylinder versions are even more attractive courtesy of a new $5000 discount and complimentary service pack.

One of the most appealing options for those not necessarily looking for all the toys or huge power outputs is the base 2023 Volkswagen Amarok TDI405 Core 4x4 automatic.

The current $5000 discount sees the fleet-spec ute’s on-road costs compressed down from the best part of $7000 to $2000, given it usually retails for $52,990 plus on-road costs but is currently available from $54,990 drive-away, with another $1800 worth of value injected by the complimentary five-year care plan.

Reading the small print reveals the first five annual services (up to 75,000km) are free, which means consumers are saving up to $6800 off their new-generation pick-up by the time it’s on the road.

Meantime this week, Kia loves a good drive-away deal and with a facelifted Picanto line-up on the way, there are some handsome deals to be had on the current model before it goes out of production, including the penultimate 2023 Kia Picanto GT-Line automatic, which is currently on special for $21,390 drive-away instead of the usual $19,340 plus on-roads.

The promo saves consumers up to a couple of grand in ORCs depending on their state or territory of purchase. That doesn’t sound like much initially but is actually not far off a 10 per cent discount, which sounds a whole lot more appealing when said out loud.

But what if you need something bigger than a micro-car? Well Hyundai is offering a $2000 factory bonus (discount) on its soon-to-be-replaced 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Active CRDi 4x4 automatic.

Again, $2000 doesn’t sound like much but in reality it’s significant because it could mean the difference between nabbing the tractable and versatile all-paw diesel version instead of the thirstier front-drive V6, given the former usually carries a premium over the latter – and still does here – but the margin is negligible.
