Details and pricing announced for 2025 MG ZS

All-new small SUV successor misses out on last car’s cut-throat pricing but gets all the tech the old car lacked

The new 2025 MG ZS SUV will be priced from $26,990 to $31,990 drive away when it arrives in Australian dealerships in the coming weeks.

With price rises across the board, when compared to its predecessor the cheapest petrol-powered MG ZS now costs $4000 more than the old entry model, while the flagship version is $2000 more expensive.

However, it’s worth pointing out that the previous small SUV missed out on key safety like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), which is now mandatory and included on all three trims with which the new MG ZS is offered.

Priced from $26,990 drive away for the ZS Excite, the petrol version of the new MG is $7000 cheaper than the equivaled ZS Hybrid+ Excite, although despite being the same model grade the non-hybrid rides on smaller wheels and gets a shrunken infotainment system compared to the electrified SUV.

Full specification will be released a little later, but the entry point to the ZS range comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat-nav and a rear-view camera.

The mid-spec ZS Essence ($29,990), meanwhile, is a $3000 step up but adds larger 17-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, 12.3-inch infotainment system, and six-way power-adjustable fake leather seats with heating function.

The flagship ZS Essence Turbo ($31,990) sits at the top of the non-hybrid line-up and gets larger 18-inch alloy wheels plus a 125kW/275Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in place of the naturally aspirated 81kW/140Nm 1.5-litre that drives the base Excite and Essence.

Fuel consumption for both engines has improved over the old car, with the 1.5-litre petrol averaging 6.7L/100km (down by 0.2L/100km), while the 1.5T returns 6.9L/100km (down by 0.4L/100km).

Available to order now, the first deliveries of the new 2025 MG ZS are scheduled to take place in February.
