Toyota is proving quite the tease in the lead-up to next month’s Detroit motor show, with its upmarket Lexus brand releasing hint shots of an all-new concept, while Toyota itself is flashing close-ups of something they’re calling NS4, described as an advanced plug-in hybrid concept.
Beyond a close-up shot of a headlight, Toyota has revealed nothing about the vehicle, not even what form its body takes.
Given what they’ve said about it, it would hardly be a surprise to find it borrowing heavily from the Prius Plug-in under the bonnet. Indeed International Business Times reports rumour has it that it will show up in the next generation of that vehicle. Some observers suggest the teaser shot hints at something on the sporty side. This would make sense, given the arrival of the 86 coupe and announcements of its intention to expand its offerings wearing the Prius badge. Plus its main competitor in hybrids, Honda, has the hybrid-sports CR-Z in its lineup.
A likely part of the NS4’s purpose is to reveal more of the company’s next generation design language. Whatever transpires, they’re being extremely coy about it before the reveal.
The NS4 will appear in Detroit alongside the compact Prius C.
