Drop-top Camaro spied in Melbourne

The new Chevy Camaro -- and rain -- on the streets of Melbourne; with pics to prove it!

Chevrolet's Holden-developed Camaro is getting around the streets of Melbourne, as Holden engineers take the Zeta-platform pony car for a spin. Just yesterday, as one of the staff writers for the Carsales Network ferried the family to Sandown for the V8 Supercars race, a red Camaro coupe was spotted heading in the other direction.

But the pictures here, courtesy of reader Gary, are a bit unusual. They show the Camaro with a soft-top roof. The convertible is known to be on the way to market later this year and plainly that plan remains in place, despite GM's financial situation. Already, the Camaro is hitting its straps in the US, with sales outpacing the Mustang's during the month of June.

With the Camaro convertible adding volume to the car's sales, the future for the Chevy looks assured.
