Volkswagen has announced the availability of an automatic transmission for its cheapest Tiguan, the front-wheel-drive 118TSI.
Priced at $30,990 plus on-road costs -- $2500 more than the manual, which continues to open the range at $28,490 plus ORCs – the six-speed dual-clutch DSG version is available to order now.
Arriving as part of the MY14 Tiguan range, the 118TSI auto comes with no change to the 118kW/240Nm 1.4-litre twin-charged petrol engine, but combined with standard BlueMotion Technologies such as idle-stop and brake energy recuperation consumes 7.3L/100km.
Built in Wolfsburg, Germany, the Tiguan 118TSI DSG also comes standard with electronic stability/traction control, brake assist and six airbags, as well as daytime driving lights, auto-hold, cruise control, a multi-function leather steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity with music streaming.
Options include Park Assist 2, a semi-automated parallel parking system.
