The 2024 Renault Scenic E-Tech has been previewed ahead of the all-new electric small SUV’s debut at the Munich motor show on September 4 and its launch in Europe early next year.
There’s no word yet on an Australian release, but this fifth-generation Renault Scenic – which morphed into an SUV for its fourth generation in 2016 – has come a long way since the original people-mover was axed here in 2005.
And it’s a prospect for release Down Under as Renault expands its EV range.
Shown in a darkened front-end teaser image released overnight, the all-new Renault Scenic E-Tech gains a diamond pattern grille and split LED headlights.
The new Scenic EV will share is pure-electric powertrain and platform with the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric, which arrives Down Under late this year priced from $64,990 plus on-road costs.
Previewed by the 2022 Renault Scenic Vision, the production model is expected to have similar dimensions to the concept, making it 4490mm long, 1900mm wide and 1590mm tall, but expect the reverse-hinged rear doors to be replaced by conventional doors.
Under the bonnet, Renault’s new Scenic SUV should be powered by the same 160kW/300Nm e-motor from the Megane E-Tech.
It’s not known if an all-wheel drive version will be offered but it’s likely Renault will borrow the same 290kW dual-motor powertrain from the closely related Nissan Ariya, which is also underpinned by the CMF-EV architecture.
Inside, expect the Scenic E-Tech to employ extensive sustainable materials for the seats and floor mats, plus the car-maker’s latest semi-autonomous driver aids.

Renault is also preparing to reveal its 2024 Renault Grand Kangoo people-mover (a day later than the Scenic E-Tech, on September 5), which will feature a three-row, seven-seat layout and a sizeable boot.
It’s thought the Grand Kangoo will be rolled out first with combustion power before an all-electric E-Tech version is launched later next year.
Both the Grand Kangoo and Renault Scenic E-Tech will arrive in 2024 along with the cute Renault 5 EV that is primed to replace the ageing ZOE.
