Volkswagen's Eos coupe-convertible has arrived Down Under -- just in time for buyers to enjoy the balmy, sunny days of autumn.
Competitively priced and equipped with a generous level of standard equipment, Eos is available in four-cylinder turbodiesel or turbo petrol models with a six-speed manual as standard.
The turbodiesel 2.0 TDI is rated at 103kW/320Nm, and the 2.0 TFSI yields 147kW/280Nm.
Featuring a fully-automatic folding five-piece roof with a large tilt and slide sunroof, the Eos starts at $47,990 for the 2.0 TDI engine. The 2.0 TFSI with six-speed manual costs $49,990. Both models can be ordered with the DSG for an extra $2300.
Standard specifications include 17-inch alloys and low tyre pressure indicator, climate control air, cruise control, power windows and rain sensing windscreen wipers.
All models get sport front seats with height adjustment in cloth trim. Customers can also choose between two leather trims at additional cost.
On the safety front the Eos features a full complement of driver aids and comes with front airbags and clever head/thorax side airbags that will deploy vertically and horizontally to act as curtain airbags through to the rear seat. Eos comes with a roll bar system which VW says will activate in just 0.23sec should it be required.
Eos is a classy addition to the CC crowd and our impressions after the local launch program this month are good. Check back to CarPoint/Carsales for our review this week.
