The facelifted 2024 GWM-Haval Jolion small SUV range has arrived Down Under priced from $26,990 drive-away and now comprises more hybrid powertrains than petrol engines.
Unlike most facelifted models, the refreshed Haval Jolion is cheaper than its predecessor – in this case by up to $2000, with the biggest saving being at the bottom of the range for the base Premium, which has the sub-$27,000 drive-away starting figure.
A full pricing table including prices changes can be found at the bottom of this article, however, the exact hierarchy of the new range is as follows: Premium ($26,990), Lux ($29,990), Premium Hybrid ($32,990), Lux Hybrid ($35,990) and Ultra Hybrid ($38,990).
Missing from the line-up is the petrol Ultra and the sportier S variant, which upped the ante with more power and a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension set-up to match.
On the topic of power, the facelifted petrol versions once again feature a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, but the kiloWatt count has dipped from 110 to 105kW while torque has remained steady at 210Nm.
GWM Australia has confirmed to carsales the new outputs are accurate but couldn’t provide an exact reason why the new Jolion is less powerful than its predecessor.
Regardless, a standard seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is still responsible for sending drive to the front wheels, while claimed combined fuel consumption still sits at 8.1L/100km.
Meantime, the Jolion’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol/electric hybrid system carries over as is, still outputting a combined 140kW/375Nm, sipping 5.1L/100km and driving the front wheels via a ‘dedicated hybrid transmission’.
Launch control is a surprise inclusion on the hybrid Jolion variants.
Standard equipment highlights for the base Premium trim include cloth upholstery, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise control, 10.25-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, an electric park brake, manual air-conditioning, paddle shifters (petrol only) and a four-speaker sound system.
The Lux grade adds LED headlights, a six-speaker sound system, 360-degree camera, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats with power-adjustment for the driver, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and heated wing mirrors.
The Lux Hybrid gains a couple of extra toys to match its more advanced powertrain: 18-inch wheels, express windows all-round, 12.3-inch infotainment interface and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
Above that, the Ultra Hybrid offers ambient interior lighting, auto park assist, head-up display, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, panoramic sunroof and roof rails.
“Since launching in Australia three years ago, the Haval Jolion has become a staple of the GWM line-up,” said GWM-Haval Australia.
“A total of 29,417 Jolions have been sold in Australia to date, a testament to the manner in which it has been welcomed by Australian new car buyers.
“With this success, we are pleased to announce the arrival of a new GWM Haval Jolion line-up, which continues to feature both petrol and hybrid models.”
Petrol variants offer 337 litres of boot space behind the second row, which can be expanded out to 1133L by folding the rear seats. The hybrid’s cargo capacities are 255L and 916L respectively.
As before, all Jolion vehicles are covered by GWM Australia’s seven-year/unlimited-km warranty, five years of roadside assist and a five-year capped-price service program.
