Facelifted 2024 Honda Civic to be hybrid-only
Updated small car here in weeks with a new look and without pure petrol powerThe 2024 Honda Civic line-up is about to go hybrid-only – not including the halo Type R hot hatch – as the Japanese brand prepares to launch the facelifted MY25 version.
Due in local showrooms within a matter of weeks, the rehashed Civic line-up will comprise the new entry-level e:HEV L and existing e:HEV LX, however pricing and finer specification details are yet to be announced.
The hybrid-only switch makes the Civic just the second all-hybrid small car on the market behind the Toyota Corolla and the second all-hybrid Honda model after the bigger Accord.
New for the 2025 model year is a Type R-inspired front bumper, refreshed alloy wheel designs and an updated infotainment system now offering Google built-in, however the touchscreen itself is unchanged.
Seabed Blue is a new pearlescent finish added to the factory colour palette while the e:HEV LX also nabs an exclusive Sonic Grey colour.
It’s unclear at the time of writing if the facelifted models will come with the gutsier 149kW/315Nm hybrid system that debuted in the US in May or if the local examples will continue on with the current 135kW/315Nm version – Australian cars are sourced from Japan while North American Civics are produced stateside.
A pricing and full specification announcement should be made within the next week or so, but it would be safe to expect an increase in the Civic’s already heady starting price ($47,200 drive-away) given the base model’s switch from petrol to hybrid power.
