Facelifted 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N is good for 280km/h
Raised speed-limiter and a series of motorsport-derived tweaks pair with a macho new look for Hyundai’s premier petrol N-carThe upgraded 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N has been revealed and the mid-life update for the compact sports sedan is now confirmed to bring more than just a styling refresh, with the Korean brand’s new flagship petrol N-car scoring a bunch of motorsport-derived enhancements to help it be even sharper and more involving to drive.
The most obvious changes are the new front and rear bumpers designed to make the i30 Sedan N look more menacing while simultaneously improving airflow into the radiator and around the body.
But it’s the changes you can’t see that will make the biggest difference – things like the reinforced engine mount membranes and G-bushings, new rear suspension S/ABS insulator, retuned ESC system, uprated steering gearbox yoke, tweaked power steering calibration and new cooling ducts for the track-rated brakes, the front hoses of which have gained a ‘thermal protector’ for prolonged endurance on track.
Hyundai also claims to have reprogrammed the car’s ECU software “for optimal use of high-octane petrol to improve performance” but exactly what impact this has remains to be seen given there’ve been no changes to the official 206kW/392Nm outputs.
One performance measure that’s been significantly improved, however, is the top speed – the electronic speed-limiter has been upped from 250km/h to a claimed 280km/h, which comfortably makes the new i30 Sedan N the fastest Hyundai production vehicle to date.
The raucous 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine still drives the front wheels via either a six-speed manual or eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with the help of an electronically adjustable limited-slip differential.
Other tweaks here and there include a change in the vehicle’s placard tyre pressures and the fitment of the i30 N Premium hatch’s illuminated ‘N light’ sport bucket seats within the cabin.

The facelifted Hyundai i30 Sedan N will be available in Australia early next year – ahead of the facelifted i30 N hatch, which is yet to be revealed.
