The facelifted 2025 Genesis G80 has arrived in Australian showrooms, introducing more standard equipment, smarter exterior looks and a heavily revised interior design but all the improvements have seen the price rocket across the range, with the luxury sedan now priced from $104,000 plus on-road costs.
Simplifying the line-up across the range the new Genesis G80 now comes with the choice of either the 224kW 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder (2.5T) or a 279kW twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 (3.5T AWD) with the previous optional Luxury Package now standard across the range.
The Luxury Pack was previously a $13,000 option but the base price has now increased by a hefty $19,000.
The range-topping 3.5T AWD still gets the option of a Sport Pack ($6000) that adds sharper styling, rear-steer and a limited-slip differential, new 20-inch rims, stickier Michelin Pilot 4S rubber and black calipers.
One final option is rear-seat entertainment package that adds $4500 to the price of the Korean BMW 5 Series rival that adds a pair of 14.6-inch rear displays.
Making it easy to spot the updates, the G80 gets a new G-matrix grille with a double-laced mesh, ‘Micro Lens Array’ LED headlights and a sportier front bumper plus fresh intake design.
Redesigned 19 and 20-inch wheels also feature, while the rear-end has been tweaked with a redesigned diffuser that neatly hide the exhaust tailpipes.
The G80 also gets four-piston monobloc calipers that is finished in silver paint.
Within, the G80 score a huge new 27-inch OLED display housing both the digital instrument cluster and infotainment interface that can now be kept relevant via over-the-air-updates. Owners can also access key function of their car remotely using their smartphone thanks to the Genesis Connected Services app.
Other key changes include an all-new climate control interface, repositioned screens, brushed aluminium-look trim instead of faux wood, a redesigned gear selector, sleeker and more traditional steering wheel, more elegant centre console and repositioned air-vents, a heated centre console, fingerprint recognition and active road noise cancellation.
As standard there's now an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Updated with Genesis latest driver assist aids, the G80 gets a semi-autonomous Highway Driving Assistant and Lane Following Assist.
Costing $104,000 plus on-road costs for the G80 2.5T, the entry point to the Genesis range costs $19,416 more than before, or $6416 more if you include the free Luxury Pack. The 3.5T AWD range-topper, meanwhile, now starts at $121,000 which is $7416 more than before.
Included in the higher price is a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, five-years free servicing up to 75,000km, and 10 years/unlimited kilometre roadside assistance.
"2025 G80 applies further sheen to our popular flagship with sophisticated styling updates and a plethora of additional features, to deliver a large sedan of unprecedented luxury," said Genesis Motors Australia boss, Justin Douglass, adding:
“With the Luxury Package now standard, a range of new and enhanced safety and comfort technologies, and the convenience of Genesis Connected Services and Over the Air updates, 2025 G80 presents a persuasive package,” he said.
