The facelifted 2022 Mazda CX-5 has been uncovered in leaked images ahead of the updated mid-size SUV’s expected launch in Australia next year.
Showing how Mazda is keeping its popular mid-size SUV fresh before introducing a generational change in the next few years, these latest photos taken of the Chinese-market CX-5 reveal slimmer headlight clusters with BMW-inspired dual-LED elements.
The grille has been revised with more chrome on the upper section, while a simpler and sportier lower bumper can also be seen.
At the rear-end, new-look tail-lights appear to mirror the dual-beam design of the headlights.
The photos published by Korean website
suggest the updated 2022 Mazda CX-5 is not far away from an official reveal.Mazda Australia declined to comment on timing or details around the facelifted model.
However, Japanese media outlets are reporting the new CX-5 will be revealed in December, with highlights of the series overhaul including new seats, revised suspension and upgraded adaptive cruise control and adaptive headlights.
A new off-road-oriented model grade is also believed to be coming.
As Mazda’s top-selling vehicle in Australia, the CX-5 is critically important and is second only to the Toyota RAV4 in terms of sales in the overpopulated but hugely popular mid-size SUV segment.
Following the launch of the 2022 Mazda CX-5, an all-new third-generation CX-5 is set to arrive in 2023, based on the Japanese car-maker’s new rear/all-wheel drive large vehicle platform and offering six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
