Renault's Koleos has been updated with a new corporate look and extra features for the new model year.
The importer is marketing the upgraded model as the 'Phase 3' Koleos, which wears new frontal styling to draw a visual parallel with the Clio light hatch launched last month. Other than the new nose the revised Koleos can be identified by restyled alloy wheels, chrome trim for the side protection strips and Metallic Brown added to the colour selection.
The Koleos Expression gains an alarm, deadlocking, lockable glove box and new interior trim materials. Mid-range Koleos Bose models feature a new audio head unit with seven-inch touch screen integrating satellite navigation, illuminated vanity mirrors for the sun visors, front parking sensors, a new 17-inch alloy wheel design in two-tone finish, a new Blind Spot Warning facility and an electro-chromatic mirror.
Renault is offering this grade with the option of a reversing camera. Pricing is $35,490 for the front-drive petrol variant with CVT, $38,990 for the petrol four-wheel drive with CVT and $40,490 for the four-wheel drive diesel (with automatic transmission), now developing 17kW more grunt for a peak figure of 127kW.
As the flagship of the range, the Koleos Privilege acquires a reversing camera, 18-inch alloys in a two-tone colour scheme and electrically-adjustable passenger seat – with the option of brown leather upholstery added. Buyers can also opt for a combination of brown leather upholstery with beige leather seat trim. Prices are $44,740 for the petrol four-wheel drive with CVT in this grade, or $46,240 for the diesel all-wheel-drive with CVT.
To maintain or even ramp up the sales momentum for the SUV Renault is offering the upgraded Koleos at a drive-away price – inclusive of on-road costs – of $27,990 for the Koleos Expression front-wheel drive model with manual transmission. After the retail incentive campaign has concluded the price will return to the manufacturer's list price of $27,490 – $1000 less than before.
"The Renault Koleos Phase 3 is a modern, stylish and affordable SUV with all the features you need for your everyday escape," says Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia.
Koleos is enjoying a significant sales uplift this year, growing from 759 cars sold to September of last year to 1294 for the year to date, 2013. The new model and the drive-away pricing incentive are sure to accelerate that level of growth.
"With these new features and revised pricing we are confident the Renault Koleos will continue to carve a larger niche for itself in the highly competitive compact SUV market," says Hocevar, as quoted in a press release.
