Facelifted Skoda Superb sketched

Czech brand to reveal upgraded flagship with fresh design and new tech this month

The facelifted 2020 Skoda Superb has been outed in an official teaser rendering ahead of its public debut at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava later this month.

Due on sale in Australia by the end of this year, the new-look Skoda Superb will bring a fresh front-end design and new technical features, says the Czech car-maker.

As you can see from this design sketch, the 2020 Skoda Superb will bring new ‘clean-cut’ headlights, the European brand’s latest corporate grille and distinctive new fog light trims.

As with the all-new Skoda Scala hatch, which arrives in Australia by mid-2020, the new-look Superb’s will wear ‘SKODA” lettering on its rear-end instead of the brand logo.

Skoda says the upgraded version of its top-shelf passenger sedan will also bring the brand’s latest technology and functionality innovations, but is yet to provide further details.

“The refined top model gives substance to Skoda’s aspiration to offer vehicles of the highest quality that provide customers with an exceptional amount of space and numerous features from higher-tier segments,” it said.

The not-so-humble Skoda Superb nameplate dates back to 1934 and after a 50-year hiatus re-emerged in 2001 with the second generation. The third-generation Superb notched up one million sales for the model in April 2017.
