FCA recalls Chrysler 300 and Jeep Wrangler for Takata airbags

Fiat Chrysler Automotive Australia has issued a new recall notice to replace Takata airbags barely a month after the previous recall.

According to the latest recall notice, vehicles affected are the Chrysler 300 built between 2005 and 2012, the Jeep Wrangler from 2007 to 2012 and a small number of Dodge RAMs imported personally and built between 2004 and 2010. All three models are fitted with Takata airbags facing the front-seat passenger, and as with other instances of the faulty airbags, production flaws and excessive humidity could result in a corroded airbag inflator that deploys with enough force to rupture and shower the passenger with shrapnel.

FCAA has advised motoring.com.au this morning that the vehicles sold in Australia and subject to the latest recall number 10,544 for the Chrysler 300, 11,875 for the Wrangler and just 16 for the RAM.

FCAA will advise owners personally and the vehicles are to be taken to an authorised dealership for new parts to be fitted.
