Italian car maker Fiat will commemorate 60 years of production from March by launching a special anniversary edition of the venerable 500.
Honouring the first hatch to roll down the line in 1957, the 60th Anniversary Edition is strictly a cabriolet-only proposition and adorns a ‘Dolcevita’ livery that pays homage to the very first pioneering model.
It follows in the wheel tracks of the 500 Anniversario Special Edition launched last year.
Special touches include the dual pastel colour scheme (ivory and white, separated by grey and burgundy pin striping), a grey fabric roof, chrome mirror caps, chrome bonnet strip, 16-inch alloy wheels and dedicated 560 badging - a nod to the anniversary.
Inside you’ll find a red vinyl dashboard, ivory leather trim with burgundy stitching and other historical touches mixed with modern comforts including climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and rear parking sensors.
The Fiat packs a familiar1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol under the bonnet, paired strictly with a five-speed robotised manual transmission.
Pricing has been set at $28,990 plus on-road costs – a circa $3500 premium over the equivalent donor car.
