Final FPV Pursuit Ute revealed

Ford Performance Vehicles releases first images and full details of limited-edition Pursuit Ute

Full details and first images of Ford Performance Vehicles' limited-edition Pursuit Ute have been released.

FPV's final ute was officially launched yesterday, alongside its sedan sister model, the limited-edition FPV GT F sedan, which will be followed by a resurrected XR8 sedan as part of Ford's final 'FH' Falcon facelift to be released in December.

However, given the XR8 will return only in four-door sedan form, the FPV Pursuit Ute will be the final V8-powered Falcon utility, ending a lineage that dates back to the vehicle which is said to have created the category in 1934 – the original Ford 'coupe ute' V8 developed by Lew Bandt in Geelong.

Just 120 examples of the 2014 FPV Pursuit Ute will be produced, all featuring the same 'stealth' stripe package as the GT F, plus a GT front bumper, 19-inch GT wheels with 245/35 Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, F6 side skirts and unique badging.

In place of the GT F sedan's 400kW-plus supercharged 5.0-litre V8 will be the same 315kW/545kW version that powers FPV's outgoing GS sedan and ute, giving it more performance than the current FG II XR6 engine, which is expected to be carried over into the final Falcon.

Although its peak torque figure is achieved over a wide 2000-5500rpm, Ford's final Pursuit Ute will deliver less torque than the discontinued FPV F6 sedan, which offers 310kW/565Nm from the most powerful version of Ford's homegrown turbocharged 4.0-litre straight six.

All figures are DIN and recorded using 98 RON fuel, which the Pursuit Ute consumes at the rate of 14.0L/100km for the six-speed manual and 14.2L/100km for the six-speed automatic.

Other standard features include an alloy sports bar, black soft tonneau cover, high-flow dual-outlet exhaust system and high-series performance brakes comprising 322mm front and 305mm rear rotors.

Inside there's a special build number badge with a matching orange stripe graphic in the 260km/h speedo, 'Pursuit' embroidery and orange stitching on the leather seat inserts and Pursuit gearshifter badge (manual only).

Like the GT F, there will also be unique start-up and gauge displays on the eight-inch central touch-screen including boost pressure, engine temperature, oil temperature (auto only), voltage (manual only) and G-force.

Climate-control, satellite-navigation and a premium audio system are also fitted in addition to the standard GS ute specification.

Prestige paint is the only option and nine exterior combinations are available, including a standard bonnet/roof stripe package that cannot be deleted. It's accompanied by the GT F's gloss-black 'racoon eye' headlight surrounds and a matching finish on the door-handles, mirrors and rear bumper.

Colour options are Kinetic (blue) with Matte Black stripe, Kinetic with Performance White stripe, Octane (orange) with Matte Black stripe, Silhouette (black) with Matte Black stripe, Silhouette with Metallic Gold stripe, Silhouette with Metallic Silver stripe, Winter White with Matte Black stripe, Smoke (silver) with Matte Black stripe and Smoke with Metallic Silver stripe.

FPV's last Pursuit Ute is priced at $52,990 plus on-road costs – the same as the FPV GS ute on which it's based – and is all but sold out.
