Following the release of its new C3 model earlier this year, Citroën has today announced the first official details of the upcoming C4 hatch.
Boasting a raft of innovative new features, increased passenger space and impressive environmental credentials, the stylish new Citroën C4 blends sculpted lines with a distinctive profile to promote a sense of strength, stability and balance.
With its sculpted lines and high quality finish, the striking new C4 is compact outside but spacious inside, the mid-size five-door hatch offering comfortable seating for five adults. A driver focused cabin featuring improved soundproofing includes such modern touches as an adjustable full-colour instrument panel, polyphonic sound alerts, adaptive climate control and a surround-sound audio system. Up-spec models even featuring massage-function seats.
Measuring in at just 4.33m long, 1.79m wide and 1.49m high, the new C4 is just 50mm longer, 20mm wider and 30mm taller than the current model, and despite the rather compact dimensions, Citroën's new hatch offers a class-leading 408-litre boot.
Adding to the current C4's already substantial list of standard safety features, the new model also includes hill start assist, automatic electric parking brake, lane departure warning system, blind-spot monitoring and xenon dual-function directional headlamps with cornering lamps.
Joining these features, an innovative new service called eTouch enables drivers to monitor their driving patterns and fuel consumption, and receive advice on how to improve their fuel economy. The system also allows on-board emergency assistance and the monitoring of any necessary maintenance.
The new French-built C4 range also promises responsive handling and impressive environmental credentials. Available with Citroën's new micro-hybrid e-HDi powertrains, the new C4 will include the latest generation Stop & Start system to deliver CO2 emissions as low as 109g/km -- and 99g/km on future models. The use of 15 per cent 'green' materials -- including recycled polyamide components -- also enhances new C4's environmental credentials.
The new Citroën C4 will debut at this year's Paris Motor Show in September ahead of its Australian and New Zealand launch in mid-2011.
