First look at Chevy Malibu

GM releases pic of upcoming Chevy mid-sizer designated to succeed Holden Epica in Australia

General Motors will unveil the new-generation Chevrolet Malibu to the world on Tuesday morning, April 19. A high-definition webcast at www.watchthenewchevymalibuinhd.com will introduce the new model from 10:30 AM, AEST.

Holden has already confirmed that the front-wheel drive sedan will be sold in Australia, up against other medium-segment passenger vehicles like the Toyota Camry, Mazda6 and Ford Mondeo.

"When the Malibu is introduced to Australia in 2012, it will play an important role in our product range, bridging the gap between our high-performing Cruze small car and Australia's favourite car, the best-selling Commodore," said Holden's Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales John Elsworth.

"Not only will it be an important vehicle for Holden in Australia, but several GM markets around the world.

"The decision to launch the Malibu via webcast, a first for the auto industry, really allows us to broaden the reach of the event, allowing literally millions of people to get their first look at what will truly be a world car."
