First pics and details: Skoda Superb facelift

Updated Superb set to make its world debut in Shanghai on April 19
Skoda has updated its Superb Hatch and Estate with fresh front and rear styling, upgraded interiors and start–stop and kinetic energy recuperation technology (for diesel engines) that boosts economy and lower emissions.
The updated Superb launches in Europe this June, but it’s not expected here until next year, according to Skoda Australia spokesman Karl Gehling.
Also due next year is the new Rapid compact car, following in the wheeltracks of the third-generation Octavia that lands here in the fourth quarter of this year.
However, Gehling says there are no plans to bring in the Slovakian-built Citigo microcar to our market.
Getting back to the new Superb, the updates are primarily cosmetic, with the face distinguished by a new grille, head- and foglights, bumpers, front wings and bonnet.
Available for the first time in the Superb line-up are bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.
The derriere of both the Superb Hatch and Estate has also been remodelled and now feature the brand’s new tail light graphics. In addition, there are new 16-18 inch alloy wheels on offer.
Meanwhile, all diesel modes gain start–stop and kinetic energy recuperation technology, contributing to a 19 per cent improvement in fuel economy, and this tech will also be offered in the 1.4-litre TSI engine sold in the European market.
Inside, there are new fabrics and patterns for the seat trim, and the options list includes Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim – a new brown-ivory colour combination.
There is also a new function available to make travelling in the back more comfortable as the front passenger seat can also be electronically moved from the rear via the press of a button.
In addition, the latest-generation Park Assist now supports both parallel and reverse bay parking and assists in both entering and leaving parking spaces.
