Ford unveils extended-cab version of Aussie-developed T6 LCV at Bangkok motor show

Ford has the answer for tradies needing more load length and additional seating for the little tackers.

The company has already unveiled the dual cab version of its upcoming T6 Ranger at AIMS in Sydney last year, but now comes a new 'Super Cab' body style, which has gone on display at the Bangkok motor show in Thailand, where the Aussie-spec Ranger will be built.

With jump seats behind the front seats, the Ranger Super Cab, which will also be known in other markets as the Ranger Open Cab or Ranger RAP Cab (Rear Access Panels), provides load length approaching that of a single-cab pick-up, but with the added practicality of occasional seating for kids. The suicide doors at the rear also allow easier access to valuable tools and materials that can be kept secure in the vehicle's cabin.

As part of the T6 development program, the Ranger Super Cab has been designed with optimised side-impact protection a priority, Ford claims. While the Super Cab style lacks a conventional B pillar between front and rear doors, the local design team has pulled out all stops to ensure the structure offers comparable levels of crash safety.

Ford claims that the Super Cab body style was introduced by the company with its American-market Ranger in 2002. The new Ranger won't be sold in the US, but will be sold in many other markets around the world.
