Ford has teased yet another video of its 2018 Ranger Raptor super ute ahead of its launch in Bangkok on February.
Featuring a mixture of footage shot in the Australian market film, the latest short film, created to publicise the Ranger for the Thai market emphasises the pickup's off-road ability.
Based on the forthcoming 2018 Ranger, the Raptor is the work of the Blue Oval's high-performance division, Ford Performance. Details remain scarce on what will power the hottest Ranger ever, although as motoring.com.au recently reported it's likely to be a high-power 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel.
Delivering significantly more power and torque than the standard car's 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre in-line five-cylinder, the fastest Ranger ever is likely to come with a 10-speed automatic transmission that incorporates a low-range transfer case.
Described as “a purpose-built, desert-racing inspired pick-up truck” that will deliver “a level of capability and off-road performance never before seen in the mid-size pick-up truck segment”, the Raptor should include the Everest SUV's coil-sprung rear suspension located by a Watts link, rather than the leaf springs of the standard Ranger.
Featuring a wider track, up to 250mm ground clearance, disc brakes all round and large 17-inch alloys, the super ute will mimic the US market's F-150 Raptor's styling.
On sale in the second half of the year, pricing should be around $80,000.
