The new Ford Endura will offer three model grades when it hits Aussie dealer showrooms in December, priced from $44,990.
The turbo-diesel-only Ford Endura will also offer Australian customers a five-year warranty and access to benefits including Ford’s free loan car program.
What it won’t offer is more than five seats – the large SUV arrives in Australia resolutely as a two-row offering that Ford Australia believes will attract a wider customer base, perhaps even some hitherto buyers of 'premium' marques.
All Ford Endura grades will be offered with a choice of front- and all-wheel drive.
The line-up kicks off with the Trend. The Ford Endura Titanium tops the range and mid-spec is the sporty Ford Endura ST-Line. Prices (see below) range from $44,990 through to $67,990.
Unlike European markets where a powered up 175kW ST-Line is offered, all three Ford Endura models will share a common powertrain Down Under.
Delivering claimed fuel consumption of 6.7L/100km, the 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is coupled with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Ford Australia is making much of the gearbox's Jaguar Land Rover-style rotary shifter.
Standard on all Aussie Enduras will be autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist and hill start assist. The range will also feature Ford's latest SYNC3 infotainment system with high-spec voice activation, satellite-navigation plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Adaptive cruise control is standard across the Ford Endura range.
Safety kit includes eight airbags (including driver and passenger knee-bags), reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors. Traffic sign recognition is also standard as is trailer sway control.
The new Ford Endura has a braked towing capacity of 2000kg.
ST-Line and Titanium model grades add an electronic tailgate which can be operated by the key fob, a dash-mounted push-button or with an under-bumper swipe of a foot. Auto parking and rear cross traffic alert is featured on the Ford Endura Titanium.
Ford Australia says the Endura focuses on "premium style, design, features and technology".
"It's [Endura] a product that we're proud to introduce, and comes from customers wanting something a little bit special, but still with a pragmatic element to going premium," said Ford Australia's Endura product marketing manager, Karen Larkin.

"Endura is for customers looking to reward themselves with the latest innovations and technology, with an overall high level of features," she stated.
At base (Trend) grade, the Ford Endura rides on 18-inch alloys. However, Ford says: "A broad choice of factory-fitted optional equipment is available for Endura. This includes 19-inch alloy wheels (Trend), a panoramic glass sunroof with power-operated blind (Trend and ST-Line) as well as Enhanced Active Park Assist (ST-Line)."
Details of the Endura model grades standard equipment are noted below.
"Endura owners stand to benefit from an increasing compelling Ford Service Benefits program. In addition to Service Loan Car, Auto Club Membership (including Roadside Assistance) and sat-nav updates, Endura ownership includes a maximum cost of $299 (including GST) for the first four years/60,000km (whichever occurs first) of scheduled servicing at Ford dealerships," the company’s release stated.
