Ford has unveiled its most powerful Everest yet, fitting the off-road-focused Everest Tremor with a 2.7-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 belting out big power. It’s a slam dunk for the brand as buyers have been frothing for such a vehicle… but Ford Australia is keeping mum on the rock-crusher’s local strategy.

For buyers chasing a taste of Ranger Raptor performance in a family-friendly SUV, Ford has delivered both good news and bad.
The good news is the Everest Tremor has gained Ford’s familiar 2.7-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, an engine already used across several overseas Ford models.

In this application it produces 260kW and 500Nm, giving the Everest a sizeable performance lift over the 184kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel currently offered in Australia.
While it falls short of the Ranger Raptor’s 292kW and 583Nm outputs, the petrol V6 Everest promises a far more spirited on-road and off-road driving experience.

Beyond the new engine, the Tremor’s hardware remains unchanged. But it does get software upgrades.
It retains a 10-speed automatic gearbox, selectable all-wheel drive with an added Rock Crawl mode, 17-inch wheels wrapped in General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, extra underbody protection, a 26mm suspension lift and larger remote-reservoir Bilstein dampers.

The bad news for Australian buyers is that the petrol V6 Everest Tremor is currently exclusive to the Middle East, where it was unveiled at the Liwa International Festival in Abu Dhabi.
A Ford spokesperson told carsales the model was developed by Ford’s Australia-based design and engineering team, but confirmed there is “no news to share regarding any changes to Ford Australia’s product line-up”.

The Everest Tremor expands Ford’s global Tremor line-up, which already includes the F-150 and Expedition, and will sit alongside the Active, Sport and Platinum variants in the 2026 Middle East Everest range.
With Ford discontinuing the 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder globally, Australian Everests are now offered exclusively with the V6 turbo-diesel, leaving local buyers watching this petrol-powered Tremor from afar.
However, if customer demand for this model gains momentum it will almost certainly force Ford Australia’s hand – although the price point could be eye-watering given the diesel Everest Tremor will cost you at least $80,000 once on-road costs are added.
