Ford Falcon EcoLPi recalled

More than 3000 LPG Falcons recalled due to fire risk from potential LPG gas leak

Ford Australia has issued a safety recall notice to rectify more than 3000 Falcon sedans and utes at risk of catching fire due to a potential LPG gas leak.

Ford is recalling all FGII Falcon EcoLPi vehicles built between August 4, 2011 and July 18, 2012 (sedan) and September 15, 2011 to July 18, 2012 (ute), totalling 3256 Australian-made vehicles.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, an O-ring seal located between the fuel delivery module and the wiring connector insert of the LPG tank may be missing.

“There is a potential for gas to leak from the LPG tank to the atmosphere,” said the ACCC. “This may result in a potential fire hazard.”

Ford says it is not aware of any incidents related to the recall and will write to the owners of all affected vehicles, advising them to contact their authorised Ford dealership for inspection and rectification.

However, in the meantime, it also says owners should avoid parking affected vehicles in a confined space until the safety recall service is completed.

For more information contact any authorised Ford dealer or Ford's Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
