For those who demand even more performance from their pint-sized hot hatch, British tuner Mountune now offers upgrades for the latest Ford Fiesta ST that goes on sale next month.
Called the M225, the Mountune go-faster package boosts the outputs of the standard Ford Fiesta ST, from 147kW of power and 290Nm of torque to a considerably punchier 165kW and 340Nm on overboost.
Key to unlocking the extra performance from the turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder is an engine re-map and a new cold air induction kit that's claimed to lower air pressure enough to allow the engine and turbocharger to work more efficiently.
As an added bonus, Mountune claims the new airbox boosts induction noise compared to the Ford Fiesta ST's standard set-up.
Unsurprisingly, along with the extra power and torque comes a healthy drop in the 0-100km/h sprint, with the Moutune'd Fiesta ST claimed to now take just six seconds -- 0.5sec quicker than the stock car.
If that's not impressive, Mountune says the performance bump is even more noticeable on the road because the little turbo three-pot delivers its grunt lower down in the rev range.
Part of the Mountune M225 upgrades is a new smartphone app called SMARTflash that gives the driver selectable modes.
These include an aggressive launch control function and a louder exhaust.
Mountune has also added a standard mode that reduces power back to stock, plus an anti-theft setting that immobilises the Fiesta ST.
In the UK the new Mountune M225 upgrade costs £622 ($A1200). It's not yet known if Ford Australia plans to offer the Moutune kit officially or whether owners will have to import the performance upgrades individually.
