Ford Mondeo upgraded for 2017

Mid-size passenger car rides on larger wheels and introduces new colour for $500 price hike

Ford Australia is preparing to roll out a revised Mondeo range for model year 17.5.

Long-standing reader Ron Burgundy, out on the prowl for a new Mondeo, learned of the running changes for the range when he paid a visit to his local Ford dealer.

According to Ron, all Mondeo models move up a size of wheel. And new designs will be introduced too.

Information to hand indicates the Ambiente trim level will migrate from 16x6.5 alloys and 215/60 R16 tyres to the mid-spec Mondeo Trend's 17x7.5 rims and 235/50 R17 tyres. Following on from that, Mondeo Trend will now ride on the flagship Mondeo Titanium's 18x8.0 wheels and 235/45 R18 tyres. And the range topper gains 19x8.0 wheels in a five-spoke design with 235/40 R19 tyres.

Other minor changes for the model year include a new colour, 'Metalicious', and two-way headrests for the front-seat passengers, in lieu of the four-way headrests fitted previously.

Prices are expected to increase by $500 across the board. The 17.5 model year Mondeo entered production from mid January and first local deliveries are due next month.

Ford will make a formal announcement about the revised Mondeo during the first week of April.
