Ford Ranger FX4 ute revealed

Based on the Ranger XLT dual-cab ute, the Ford Ranger FX4 special edition adds new "attitude" to the big ute says the Blue Oval, and an extra $3500 to price.

Fitted with an edgy new look, the Ford Ranger FX4 comes with everything from the $55,415 XLT model plus larger 18-inch "Stark Grey" alloy wheels, newly-designed black grille, black sports bar, rear bumper, side steps and more.

The "murdered out" colour scheme gives the car a somewhat aftermarket appearance, which isn’t surprising given sales of aftermarket grilles, wheels and accessories are booming for the Ranger ute, which captured a whopping 36,934 sales in Australia in 2016.

"We developed the Ranger FX4 for our customers that are a bit bolder than most and make use of the towing and payload capabilities of the Ranger XLT," said Graeme Whickman, Ford Australia President and CEO.

The Ford fashion kit follows the recent launch of the Tickford Ranger mods, which can add up to $20,000 worth of extras to the Ranger, specially developed by the reborn Ford tuner.

Adding $3500 to the cost of the XLT, the FX4 is priced at:

Ford Ranger FX4 $61,115 (auto)

- Black bonnet and tailgate decal wraps
- Side decals with 'FX4' branding

- Black Grille with unique design
- Black fog lamp bezels
- Black exterior mirrors
- Black fender features

Interior features over the XLT include:

- Leather accented 'FX4' branded seats
- Front and rear carpet mats
- Black interior accents

The Ford Ranger FX4 is available in four exterior colours only: Frozen White, Shadow Black, Ingot Silver and Magnetic.
