Ford Australia’s new top-shelf Wildtrack ute is now available in Australian showrooms, bringing to 21 the number of Ranger models now on offer here.
Fitted as standard with a rear-view camera system, satellite-navigation and Bluetooth with voice control, the range-topping Ranger Wildtrak manual is priced as $57,390, with a six-speed auto version costing $2000 extra.
Ford Australia General Marketing Manager David Katic said the final Ranger variant will arrive to a waiting list that stretches beyond October, as full supplies of all Ranger models resume following Thailand’s worst floods in 50 years.
“We’ve experienced unprecedented demand for the Wildtrak with the vehicles arriving now filling orders well into Q4 this year,” he said.
“The number of other Ranger variants arriving has nearly doubled since the beginning of the year, so dealers are starting to get good stocks of all models.
“The no-compromise Wildtrak offers customers comprehensive equipment levels, smart technology and rugged good looks that complement the already expansive list of standard features and outstanding dynamics of the all-new Ranger.”
In addition to the equipment list seen in the Ranger XL and XLT models – offered across three body styles, 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains and two ride heights - the Wildtrak features the latest in-car technologies and a bold new hero colour (Chilli Orange, pictured) to go with the Cool White, Black Mica, Metropolitan Grey and Highlight Silver exterior paint colours.
It comes with the same maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating as the rest of the Ranger line-up (excluding the base 4x2 Single Cab Chassis model), plus Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), ABS brakes, Hill Launch Assist, Trailer Sway Control, Load Adaptive Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Roll Over Mitigation, Emergency Brake Light and front seatbelt reminders.
Comfort and safety technologies include a rear-view camera system with rear-view mirror display, satellite-navigation with five-inch colour screen and Bluetooth with voice control, and the Wildtrak also comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack, sports bar and unique Wildtrak badging and graphics.
Other Wildtrak features include rear parking sensors, dual-zone electronic climate-control with voice activation, a locking rear differential, eight-way powered and leather-trimmed seats, front seat heating, unique colour and trim accents, bedliner with additional 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, privacy glass, foglights and auto headlights, a cooled centre console, rain-sensing wipers and towbar.
The Wildtrak is powered exclusively by the Ranger’s 3.2-litre TDCi Duratorq diesel engine, delivering 147kW at 3000rpm and 470Nm of torque between 1500 and 2750rpm. In this application, it returns combined fuel consumption of 9.4L/100km, while being able to tow up to 3350kg, carry a payload of up to a tonne and wade through 800mm of water.
