Ford global boss Alan Mulally has made a surprise in-person appearance to lead the unveil of the company’s Australian future product plans at its ‘Go Further’ event at Fox Studios in Sydney today.
Go Further is designed to combat the negative publicity created by Ford’s decision to shut down local manufacturing and kill off the Falcon nameplate no later than October 2016 and the false perception the Blue Oval is leaving the Australian market altogether.
The event was hosted by Ford Australia and New Zealand president Bob Graziano and also included input from global marketing boss Jim Farley, Asia-Pacific president David Schoch and Ford COO Mark Fields.
Among the highlights were:
· A glimpse of the 2014 Falcon
· Confirmation the Mustang will return to Australia
· The global reveal of the Ranger-based Everest seven seat SUV
· Australian reveal of the new Transit van
· Details of new-generation Mondeo roll-out
· Refresh entire vehicle line-up sold here by 2017
· Have 11 global vehicles on-sale here by 2017
· Add an array of new technologies and safety innovations
· A comprehensive new customer ownership and after-sales plan
