Forester pics slip out
Blurry images of Subaru's 2009 Forester are circulating on the InternetThey're dubious and 'low-res', but the amalgam of pictures you see here provide some context for how the next generation of Subaru Forester may look.
One image shows the front quarter panel and headlight cluster of the new car. It's believed to have come to light from a brochure fortuitously disseminated among the Internet community.
A full rear view of the new car is a teaser shot taken from Subaru's own mini-site for the Forester.
Scans from the brochure mentioned earlier show the flanks from ¾ rear view and the tail light clusters. These first appeared in the public domain on the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club forum (NASIOC).
The final image shows the grille of the Tribeca update, since this is the 'look' that the new Forester is expected to adopt for its frontal styling.
There's still some suspicion that the Japanese domestic market version may go to a full width grille much like the latest Impreza's, but that would not be in keeping with either Tribeca offroader or past Forester models.
There's no reason why Subaru must retain styling cues from the older car, of course -- and the new model does look like a radical styling departure from the current model and the first Forester.
The original Forester was released in 1997 and the current model arrived here in 2002, so we're about due for an altogether new model. Expect it to arrive late next year as a 2009 model.
