Four American car classics to celebrate the 4th of July

American cars hold a special place in the hearts and minds of car lovers the world over.

Yes there have been some dodgy cars over the years (most of the '90s) and some 'American' car brands have not been in USA hands for many years, but the heritage and the nostalgia of a life and car world still lives on today. From muscle cars, to large SUVs, pickup trucks and hardcore off-roaders, there is something for everyone.

Here are four cars to mark the 4th of July, the day of Independence for the USA. As Miley Cyrus says "Yeah-eh-ah-eh-ah-yay, it's a party in the U.S.A.".

Cadillac Escalade

While the British have the Range Rover as their go-to large SUV for the rich and famous, the Americans have the Cadillac Escalade. From footballers to Hollywood's rich and famous, this large American SUV is primarily seen rolling around LA in black and has been the go-to car since it was first launched in 1999.

It was Cadillac's first major entry into the SUV market (well before it was a key segment as it is today) and was introduced in response to competition from Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. Celebs including Kendall Jenner, David Beckham and Ben Affleck are known to have owned the beast of an SUV.

Chevrolet Corvette

From a little red Corvette to an all-out V8 Stingray, the Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most well known and loved American muscle cars. It's been around for over 60 years and has eight distinctive generational looks.

The newest 'vette is a new take on an old classic which we are sure will continue the love and following the car has received to date.

Ford F-150

You can't get more American than the good ol' pickup truck! The Ford F-150 has been the number one selling vehicle in the USA for almost 40 years and is still going strong. Seen in just about every film or TV show set in any location outside a major city, there are Ford pickup trucks everywhere. The latest version is an all-electric version called the F-150 Lightning which is already selling out fast.

Jeep Wrangler

The go-anywhere, anytime with anyone life is possible in the Jeep Wrangler. The army vehicle turned weekend adventure must have has its own devoted army of fans who modify and push the vehicle to its limits all across the world. Even Barbie got in on the action during the '90s rocking her own hot pink Jeep Wrangler convertible.
