FPV aligns with MkII FG Falcon

Styling revisions, extra equipment and new touch-screen satnav come with no price changes

Bringing minor styling changes, extra standard equipment and inheriting new touch-screen satnav to finally replace the Falcon's hoary remote control system, the FPV high performance range has been updated to align with the latest MkII FG Falcon. It upgrade comes with no price increases over the outgoing models.

Although many variants benefit from upgrades to standard equipment, it is the adoption of the new 8.0-inch touch-screen satnav - standard on GT E, GT-P and F6 E models - that is the most newsworthy.

The new Interior Command Centre system, which also incorporates a Traffic Message Channel, does away with the former remote-control arrangement and offers features such as "Green routing" to calculate the most economical route. There's also a choice of 2D or 3D map displays, overspeed warnings, a "Where am I?" feature showing local points of interest, left and right-side display of street numbers, "advanced" lane guidance assisting in lane choices and a junction view providing details of junctions to be negotiated.

The new digital mapping system also come with speed camera warnings, and the touch-screen also controls audio and phone systems.

"The Performance Car market in Australia is highly competitive and so naturally we are thrilled to be able to increase the standard specification offerings on all our vehicles," FPV General Manager Rod Barrett said.

The reversing camera once standard on GT E and F6 E models is now also adopted on GT-P, GT, F6 and GS, while GS sedan and ute models now come with an alarm, plus a "prestige" audio system as standard.

All FPV models gain a new USB input for playing MP3 audio files, with a maximum memory support of as much as one terabyte.

The most striking visual changes occur on GS variants which now have a GT-style grille with a gaping lower air intake in a new bumper, and winglets below outrigger "fog" lights.

Both F6 and GS ute models get a sports bar as standard over the rear cargo area, while all models now come with a new light package including projector headlights. F6 models also get new "premium" five-spoke alloys with a Graphite finish.

FPV recommended Manufacturer's List Prices:
GT $71,290
GT-P $82,540
GT E $82,990

F6 E $76,940
F6 $64,890
F6 Ute $55,990

GS $57,990
GS Ute $52,990
