FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept teased again

Virtual racer tease said to offer sneak preview of new N-brand performance products. No, really

Hyundai has once again teased a pic of the virtual concept for the Gran Turismo 6 PlayStation game that it will reveal at the Frankfurt motor show.

The futuristic racer, called the Hyundai N 2025, is said to blend a Le Mans racer with an open wheeler.

Styled in-house by Hyundai’s designers, overseen by design boss Peter Schreyer, the new concept is supposed to “blur the line between air and asphalt”.

The new virtual concept will also preview the car-maker’s “sustainable technology and race car design” – hinting that the some part of the designer’s flight of fancy could re-emerge on a production car made by Hyundai’s new high-performance sub-brand N.

N, like BMW’s M division, is responsible for its motorsport activities and builds the brand’s current i20 WRC rally car.

Hyundai’s first production N car is expected to be an i30 hatch-based car that will arrive sometime in 2017. The small hot hatch is likely to be powered by the same 221kW 2.0-litre turbo engine that powered the RM15 concept unveiled at the 2015 Seoul motor show.

More information will be revealed on the Hyundai N 2025 next month, shortly before the virtual racer is released for download to drive (virtually) on the Gran Turismo 6 PlayStation game.
