FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Lambo Huracan Spyder soon
Italian supercar-maker readies striking new entry-level convertibleThe 2015 Frankfurt motor show will be home to dozens of eye-popping global premieres -- it is Europe's most important motor show after all -- but there's one vehicle that could trump them all.
Although Lamborghini has not officially confirmed its reveal, it has released a single preview image with the caption "The sky will never be the same" – a thinly veiled reference to its second-generation entry-level roadster, the Huracan Spyder.
It's not clear whether the drop-top version of the Huracan will feature a metal folding roof like Ferrari's California T or a cloth roof like its predecessor, the Gallardo Spyder (pictured).
But expect the head-turning Huracan Spyder to be powered by the same 5.2-litre V8 as the coupe, which belts out enough power to accelerate the car to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, with a bit of help from launch control.
The naturally-aspirated V10 grinds out 448kW and 560Nm, which is transferred to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
In Australia hard-top Huracan costs $428,000 before on-road costs, so the Spyder could be expected to go close to half a million dollars.
