Renault has teased its replacement for the old Laguna in a YouTube video ahead of its online reveal on July 6, and its global public debut at the Frankfurt motor show this September.
Called the Talisman -- a word the French car-maker says should conjure up images of ‘protection and power’ -- the new big sedan has been created to go head-to-head with the Ford Mondeo, Mazda6 and Volkswagen Passat.
Inside, the Talisman is said to boast a high-quality interior inspired by the recently launched Espace people-mover and features a huge portrait tablet, a head-up display and a new virtual dash similar to the one in the Audi TT.
So far, little is known about what will power the Talisman, but whatever is under the bonnet -- according to one Renault insider -- it’s very unlikely the new sedan will replace the current Latitude sedan.
In fact, it’s unlikely to be sold in Australia at all.
According to the senior source, the declining big-sedan market in places like the UK means that it is “very unlikely” the Talisman will be engineered for right-hand drive.
