Subaru has announced that it will name its new rear-wheel drive sports coupe BRZ when a "technology concept" of the model makes its public debut at next month's Frankfurt motor show.
Derived from the words Boxer Rear-wheel drive Zenith (yes, we're confused too), Subaru says the three-letter name "embodies ultimate passion for the new sports car and confidence in its distinctive constellation trademark and core technology".
The car, which shares its platform and drivetrain with Toyota's FT-86, is due to begin production in Q2 of 2012.
A decision on whether the BRZ will come to Australia has not yet been made. Subaru saying they will evaluate the option "later this year".
